After more than eight years as executive director of the Florida Keys History and Discovery Foundation, Jill Miranda Baker has announced that she will be departing from her role as executive director at the end of this year to pursue other opportunities.

She is credited for developing and leading the not-for-profit’s museum, the Keys History & Discovery Center.

Under her tenure, Baker secured a $1 million donation to establish a long-term endowment to fund the organization, introduced and grew an annual membership program, created a lecture series and developed partnerships with other not-for-profits and government agencies that led to permanent exhibits reflective of the area’s history, ecosystem and flats fisheries.

The foundation board has launched a national search for a new executive director.
