The 16-unit Habitat for Humanity of the Upper Keys project on Windley Key is near completion.
Habitat is looking to fill eight as rental units. This affordable housing project at 84771 Overseas Highway was made possible in part by a 99-year ground lease from the village.
“We are extremely grateful to have partnered with the village of Islamorada and the Monroe County Land Authority to bring this project to fruition. It’s been a long road to get here, and despite challenges with COVID-19, we are targeting a move-in date of Nov. 1, 2020,” said Lindsay Fast, executive director of the local Habitat.
The rental units are 1,160-square-foot, two-story town homes featuring two bedrooms and 2.5 baths. Each features tile floors, quartz countertops, wood cabinets, hurricane impact windows and doors, two outdoor patios, a dishwasher, in-unit washer and dryer, over-the-range microwave and parking for two vehicles.
Each is priced at $1,813 per month, with an annual lease.
Applicants must qualify under Monroe County affordable housing standards. Applicants can call the office for more information at 305-453-0050, and pre-qualification applications can be found at habitatupperkeys.org.
