MARATHON — A 66-year-old local man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly threatening others with a large kitchen knife.

Michael Edward Girardin was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

A man and a woman said they were sitting behind a gas station when Girardin approached and punched the woman in the arm. This upset the man with her. Girardin left, returned with a knife and threatened to kill the man, they said.

Girardin then got into a taxi and left the area. He was found with the knife at different gas station and detained at gun point, reports say.

Girardin was taken to jail.
