Competitors in The College of the Florida Keys’ Swim Around Key West take to the waters surrounding the island on Saturday, June 18, and boaters are reminded to be on the lookout for swimmers and their support teams.

The event begins at 8:30 a.m. at Smathers Beach, with the shorter, open-water swims taking their turns before the 61 soloists and 33 teams begin their circumnavigation at 10:50 and 11 a.m.

The Power Squadron and the U.S. Coast Guard and Auxiliary will be out attempting to slow down boaters as they approach the racers. Around 2 p.m., a majority of swimmers are expected to be in the Key West Harbor, while the lead swimmers should be passing under the Cheryl H. Cates Memorial Bridge (formerly the Cow Key Bridge).
